China Symphony Summit kicked off last night in Hangzhou, China. Presented by the China Symphony Development Foundation (CSDF), an orchestras service founded in 1994, the summit is hosted by Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra for the third time. In two and a half days executives from 67 orchestra will tackle issues from funding to programming as always.
The summit coincided with the announcement of 2017/18 season by Hangzhou Philharmonic, as well as the closing concert of the first Hangzhou Int’l Music Festival where Yang Yang, HZPO’s artistic director, conducts Mahler’s Symphony No.9.
Highlights of HZPO’s 2017/18 season include a Eastern European tour in April 2018 to Greece, Romania, Serbia, Hungary and Bulgaria led by Yang Yang. Chinese cellist Wang Jian is the artist-in-residence.
